Personal
- Born and raised in Poway, California, outside of San Diego.
- Began playing golf at age 7 with friend Bill Lunde's grandfather.
- Competed in San Diego Junior Golf Association with fellow PGA TOUR player Pat Perez. Won the California state high school championship in 1994 and 1995, the first player to win twice.
- Was a member of the 1998 NCAA championship team at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. UNLV teammates included Chris Riley, Chad Campbell, Bill Lunde and Adam Scott. Graduated with a communications degree.
- In 2009, married wife Stacy, a longtime friend since graduating Poway High School together.
- Founded the Charley Hoffman Foundation to raise funds for charities benefitting children in their native and adopted hometowns of San Diego and Las Vegas. Foundation has raised more than $1.8 million for charities in San Diego and Las Vegas.

2021 Season
Became one of six players to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs in each of the first 15 seasons of the FedExCup era and advanced to the BMW Championship, finishing the season No. 32 in the standings. Marked his 12th time qualifying for the BMW Championship and first since the 2016-17 season. Collected five top-10s, highlighted by a runner-up at the Valero Texas Open, and made 24 cuts in 29 starts.

Charles Schwab Challenge: After opening with a 1-over 71, recorded rounds of 62-72-65 to finish T3 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, marking his first top-five at the tournament in 13 starts.

Valero Texas Open: After opening with a 3-over 75, carded rounds of 66-65-66 to record his second consecutive solo-second at the Valero Texas Open (2019/2nd). Became the first player to finish runner-up twice in a row at the same event since Xander Schauffele at the TOUR Championship in 2019 and 2020. Third-round 65 was the lowest score in the third round by any player in the field.

Sanderson Farms Championship: Held a share of the 18-hole lead at the Sanderson Farms Championship en route to a T6. Fell to 0-for-7 in his career with the 18-hole lead/co-lead.
2020 Season
Qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs, one of nine players to do so in each of the first 14 seasons of the FedExCup era, and finished the season No. 77 in the FedExCup standings. Recorded two top-10s, highlighted by a T7 at the Workday Charity Open, and made the cut in 11 of 20 starts.
2019 Season
Qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs, one of nine players to do so in each of the first 13 seasons of the FedExCup era. Ended the season No. 78 in the FedExCup standings. Earned two top-10s and made 13 cuts in 24 starts, finishing the season with a T77 at THE NORTHERN TRUST.

Valero Texas Open: Finished second at the Valero Texas Open following a final-round 67. Third-round 64, which included a birdie-birdie-birdie eagle finish, tied Ryan Moore (R3) and Kevin Streelman (R4) for low score of the week. Earned his 11th top-15 finish and 14th made cut in 14 starts at the event. Represented best result on the PGA TOUR since losing in a playoff at the 2017 RBC Canadian Open.
2018 Season
Qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs for the 12th straight year, one of just 10 players to do so. For the first time in his career, failed to advance past the second Playoffs event, ending his season at No. 79 in the standings. Did not post a top-10 for the first time in 13 seasons on the PGA TOUR.

Dell Technologies Championship: Was eliminated from the FedExCup Playoffs after a 74th-place finish at the Dell Technologies Championship. Ended his streak of qualifying for the BMW Championship every year of the Playoffs, one of only two players to have done so (Phil Mickelson).

Masters Tournament: Aced the 16th hole in the final round of the Masters Tournament for his first ace on TOUR and the 19th of the 2017-18 PGA TOUR Season. It was the 29th hole-in-one in tournament history and the 20th at No. 16. Final-round 67 secured a T12 result, his best finish of the season.

Hero World Challenge: Carried a five-stroke lead into the final round of the Hero World Challenge, but finished in second place behind champion Rickie Fowler, who closed with a course-record 11-under 61. After opening with a 3-under 69 to sit T8 in his first start at the event, stormed up the leaderboard with a second-round 9-under 63 to take a three-shot lead over Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood. Second round began with birdies on four of his first five holes and closed with five consecutive birdies for the 63, just one shy of what was then the course record. Added a 2-under 70 to take the third-round lead over Spieth and Rose. Closed with an even-par 72 for the runner-up finish, four strokes behind Fowler.

Shriners Hospitals for Children Open: Finished T18 in his hometown event at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. The result was significant because he donated his entire paycheck of $98,600 to the Direct Impact Fund via PGA TOUR Charities to support the victims of the Las Vegas shooting on October 1, 2017.
2017 Season
Advanced to the Playoffs for the 11th straight year (one of just 13 players to do so), finishing No. 20 in the FedExCup standings. Turned in career-best totals with seven top-10 finishes (tying his total in 2015) and 14 top-25 finishes. Missed the cut in his first three starts of the season, but ended the year with 24 made cuts in 31 starts. Year was highlighted by runner-up finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and the RBC Canadian Open.

Presidents Cup: Making his Presidents Cup debut as one of Steve Stricker's captain's picks, turned in a 1-2 record en route to a 19-11 victory by the Americans over the International squad at Liberty National. Teaming with Kevin Chappell, week was highlighted by a dominating 6-and-5 victory in Friday's Four-ball competition over Anirban Lahiri and Charl Schwartzel.

TOUR Championship: Made it to the TOUR Championship for the third time in his career. Finished T28 in the 30-player field.

World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational: Posted final-round 4-under 66 at WGC-Bridgestone Invitational but came up short, finishing six back of Hideki Matsuyama in third place. Was attempting to become first player since Jordan Spieth at the 2015 Masters Tournament to win a title after losing a playoff the previous week (at RBC Canadian Open). Advanced two spots, to No. 8, in the Presidents Cup U.S. Team standings thanks to solo-third at the Bridgestone Invitational. Result marked only top-10 finish in 13 World Golf Championships appearances. In four previous appearances at the Bridgestone Invitational, best showing was T22 in 2007 in his tournament debut.

RBC Canadian Open: At the RBC Canadian Open, held the 54-hole lead/co-lead for the fourth time in his PGA TOUR career and failed to win, despite a final-round 68 for a 21-under 267 total, losing on the first hole of sudden death playoff to defending champion Jhonattan Vegas. Marked the fourth 54-hole lead/co-lead he'd failed to convert to victory, and the 17th lead/co-lead after any round on the PGA TOUR that he'd failed to convert to victory.

Travelers Championship: After going eagle-birdie-birdie on Nos. 13-15 to take the outright lead during the third round of the Travelers Championship, closed double-bogey-bogey-bogey, playing his last three holes 4-over for a 2-under 68. Beginning the final round six shots back, fired a bogey-free 4-under 66 to finish T3 in his eighth start in the Travelers Championship. Marked his third top-10 in the event.

U.S. Open: Shot 70-70-68-71 to be one of three players (Brooks Koepka, Brandt Snedeker) to post four sub-par rounds at Erin Hills. The eighth-place was his best result in six U.S. Open Championships and his best finish in a major to this point.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Teamed with Nick Watney to finish T5 at 19-under in Foursomes/Four-ball format at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Combined with Watney to join winners Jonas Blixt/Cameron Smith as only teams with four sub-70 rounds, including 67-69 in the more difficult Foursomes format in rounds one and three.

Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard: After entering the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at 11-under and tied for the 54-hole lead with Kevin Kisner, carded a 1-over 73 to finish T2 (his sixth-career runner-up finish) and one stroke behind champion Marc Leishman. Final round included five bogeys and four birdies. Marked the third 54-hole lead/co-lead he was unable to convert to victory. Had enjoyed little success in four prior starts at Bay Hill, missing three cuts and finishing T59 in 2012.

Genesis Open: Posted his first top-10 finish of the season with a T4 at the Genesis Open after four sub-par rounds at Riviera CC. Recorded an eagle at the par-5 17th hole in the opening round then added three additional eagles during the week, each at the par-5 first hole, where he made par in the first round.

Franklin Templeton Shootout: Teamed with Billy Horschel to finish third at the Franklin Templeton Shootout in December.
2016 Season
Season highlighted by his fourth TOUR victory (his lone top-10 finish of the season), winning the Valero Texas Open. Advanced to the BMW Championship for the 10th time in as many attempts during the FedExCup era, finishing No. 44 in the standings thanks to eight top-25 finishes. One of 16 players to advance to the FedExCup Playoffs each season since its inception in 2007 and one of just three players to advance to the BMW Championship every year of the Playoffs (Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson).

BMW Championship: After missing the cut at the Deutsche Bank Championship, finished T52 at the BMW Championship, dropping him to No. 42. Consequently, he missed out on his third trip to the TOUR Championship.

The Barclays: Began his Playoffs run with a T13 at The Barclays, jumping to No. 27 in the FedExCup standings.

Valero Texas Open: Made a clutch nine-foot birdie on the 72nd hole of the Valero Texas Open to hold off Patrick Reed by a stroke and claim the victory at 12-under 276. Was playing in the same group with Reed, who birdied the 72nd hole to tie Hoffman at 11-under. With his final-round 3-under 69, moved to 43-under par in the event since moving to TPC San Antonio in 2010 (seven starts). The win marked his fifth top-10 finish in the event in 11 starts.

Player Advisory Council (PAC): Was announced on Feb. 17 that he was elected Co-Chairman of the Player Advisory Council (PAC) alongside Kevin Streelman by the TOUR's membership for the 2016 calendar year. The 16-member PAC advises and consults with the PGA TOUR Policy Board (Board of Directors) and Commissioner Jay Monahan on issues affecting the TOUR. The twosome succeeded Bo Van Pelt and Mark Wilson and will serve a three-year term (2017-2019) as Player Directors along with Jason Bohn (2015-17) and Davis Love III (2016-18).

Franklin Templeton Shootout: Teamed with Daniel Berger to finish third in his debut at the Franklin Templeton Shootout in December.
2015 Season
Season highlighted by a victory at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba (the final event of the 2014 calendar year), ending a winless drought of 109 starts. Finished the season No. 10 in the FedExCup standings, second only to his fourth-place effort in 2010. Finished the season with a career-high seven top-10s.

TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola: Finished T22 at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola in just his second trip to the season-ending event, and finished the season No. 10 in the FedExCup.

Deutsche Bank Championship: At the Deutsche Bank Championship, where he won in 2010, was the second-round leader. Battled back from a Sunday 76 to record a 67 on the final day in his attempt to win at TPC Boston for the second time. Is one of five players to advance to the BMW Championship each of the first nine seasons of the FedExCup Playoffs.

RBC Canadian Open: Finished the second round of the RBC Canadian Open eagle-birdie-eagle en route to a 6-under 66 and eventual T7 finish with three others.

AT&T Byron Nelson: One week after a T10 at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, recorded a runner-up finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson. He was one of just three players with top-10 finishes in the back-to-back Dallas-Fort Worth events. After going out in 1-over 36 in the final round, recorded five birdies on his closing nine for a 4-under 65 en route to his second runner-up showing of the year and fifth of his career. His final-round 65 marked his lowest final-round score at TPC Four Seasons Resort. His previous best was a 67 in 2013.

Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial: Fourth top-10 of the season came at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, finishing T10, three strokes behind champion Chris Kirk.

Masters Tournament: In his second Masters start and his 15th major championship appearance overall, finished T9 at Augusta National in April. The top-10 finish went with his T27 in his initial appearance (2011). It also marked his only made cut in four major championship appearances in 2015.

Valero Texas Open: Was the first-round leader at the Valero Texas Open and trailed by just one stroke after 36 holes, but fell out of contention after a third-round, 7-over-par 79. Came back with a 2-under-par 70 Sunday to eventually finish T11.

Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation: Finished T2 at the Humana Challenge on the strength of a final-round 64. The T2 was his fifth top-10 in nine Humana Challenge starts. It also moved him to a season-high third-place position in the FedExCup standings.

OHL Classic at Mayakoba: Overcame a three-stroke deficit in the final round to post a 5-under 66 and claim a one-stroke win at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba over Shawn Stefani. Came to the 72nd hole leading his playing partner Stefani by one shot. When the duo each bogeyed the par-4 home hole, he emerged victorious. Earned his third career PGA TOUR victory at age 37 years, 10 months, 20 days in his 256th career PGA TOUR start. Won in his third start at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba (T31 in 2011 and T69 in 2012). Extended the stretch of American-born players to win the OHL Classic at Mayakoba to eight in eight years. Ranked fourth in Greens in Regulation for the week.
2014 Season
Missed just four cuts in 25 starts and collected three of his four top-10 finishes in his first six starts of the season. For the eighth consecutive year, played his way into the FedExCup Playoffs, making it through the first three events. Finished 53rd in the final FedExCup standings.

Quicken Loans National: Finished T3 at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional CC, with rounds of 72-72-68-69. Has never missed the cut in eight starts at the Quicken Loans National, with his previous-best finish a T19 in his inaugural appearance in 2007. One of four players to qualify for The Open Championship at the Quicken Loans National through the new Open Qualifying Series.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Posted four sub-par rounds at TPC Louisiana, including first- and third-round 68s, to claim a T5 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, with Erik Compton and Robert Garrigus.

Farmers Insurance Open: Finished T7 at the Farmers Insurance Open on the strength of a final-round 67 that included his first career PGA TOUR hole-in-one. He did it on the third hole of the South Course at Torrey Pines GC.

Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation: The 2007 Humana Challenge winner returned to PGA West and opened with a bogey-free, 8-under 64 at La Quinta CC to trail Patrick Reed by one stroke. Ensuing rounds of 66-66-71 resulted in a T9 with four others.

Shriners Hospitals for Children Open: Led by a final-round, 7-under 64 (equaling his best round at the tournament), the Las Vegas native finished fourth at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. It marked his best finish in nine starts at the event, topping his T5 in 2006.
2013 Season
Made 19 of 23 cuts on TOUR, with five top-10s. Finished No. 61 in the FedExCup standings.

Travelers Championship: Finished T7 at the Travelers Championship after holding the first-round lead with an opening, 9-under 61. The finish came a year after finishing T2 in Hartford.

U.S. Open: Was the medalist at U.S. Open qualifying at Brookside G&CC and The Lakes G&CC in Columbus, Ohio, in early June. Shot rounds of 65 (The Lakes) and 68 (Brookside) to edge David Hearn, Robert Karlsson, Josh Teater and Nicholas Thompson by a stroke. Went on to T45 at the Open at Merion GC.

HP Byron Nelson Championship: Recorded his fourth top-10 finish of the year (one shy of career-high) with a T8 finish at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

RBC Heritage: After entering the final round of the RBC Heritage with a two-stroke lead over Webb Simpson, posted a 6-over 77 to finish T6 (his second consecutive top-10 finish) and four strokes out of the Graeme McDowell-Simpson playoff. Also led after the second round, sharing the lead with Steve LeBrun and Kevin Streelman. The 77 Sunday snapped a streak of 11 consecutive sub-par rounds on TOUR, dating to the first round of the Shell Houston Open (T20). Continues to improve in each RBC Heritage start. He missed the cut in 2006, was 75th in 2009 and T8 in 2012.

Valero Texas Open: Posted four sub-par rounds at the Valero Texas Open in April to earn a T3, with Jim Furyk and Billy Horschel. Rallied from a double bogey-6 on the first hole in the final round with six birdies on his last eight holes, good for a 3-under 69 and the top-five performance.

Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation: Finished T10 at the Humana Challenge at a site where he picked up his first TOUR win, in 2007. Had missed his last three cuts at the Palm Springs-area tournament.
2012 Season

Travelers Championship: Finished T2 at the Travelers Championship in his fourth start at the event. Held a two-shot lead at 16-under before a double bogey-6 on No. 17 and a bogey-5 on No. 18 dropped him one shot behind winner Marc Leishman.

RBC Heritage: Making his third start at the RBC Heritage, finished T8 for his first TOUR top-10 finish since the 2011 Barclays.
2011 Season
Following a career-best season, made cuts in 27 starts and finished inside the top 50 in the FedExCup standings.

Valero Texas Open: First top-10 finish of the season came after a final-round, 4-under 68 at the Valero Texas Open, good for T2 honors. Tied with Kevin Chappell, a shot behind winner Brendan Steele. Has never missed a cut in San Antonio in six starts.
2010 Season
Finished the season No. 4 in the FedExCup standings highlighted by a Playoffs victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola: In his first start at the TOUR Championship, finished sixth.

Deutsche Bank Championship: Carded 11 birdies on the way to a final-round, career-best 9-under 62 (featuring a tournament-record 29 on the back nine) and a five-stroke win at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Entered the final round four strokes behind Jason Day, giving him the largest come-from-behind victory in tournament history. His first top-10 finish in 11 PGA TOUR Playoffs events locked up a spot for the first time at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola. Sponsored by Waste Management, he won his second TOUR event at the only carbon neutral event on TOUR.

Turning Stone Resort Championship: Finished T10 at the Turning Stone Resort Championship for his third top 10 in four starts. Finished four strokes behind winner Bill Lunde, his best friend since childhood. Lunde and Hoffman grew up on the same street and both learned to play golf from Lunde's grandfather.

RBC Canadian Open: Opened and closed with 5-under 65s to finish in a nine-way T4 at the RBC Canadian Open. Began the day T42. In the third and fourth rounds, birdied Nos. 9-12 at St. George's G&CC.

John Deere Classic: Opened and closed with 6-under 65s at the John Deere Classic en route to a tie for seventh, his first top-10 finish of the season.
2009 Season
Posted four top-10 finishes in 27 starts to finish No. 37 in the FedExCup.

Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open: Posted a sixth-place finish at Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Was one of five UNLV Rebels in the Las Vegas field and one of three (Ryan Moore, Chad Campbell) to finish in the top-10.

Valero Texas Open: Closing rounds of 63-66 led to a T9 finish at the Valero Texas Open.

Buick Invitational: In his hometown of San Diego a week after the FBR Open, finished T7 to Nick Watney at the Buick Invitational, where he was second in Driving Distance for the week (302.1 yards).

FBR Open: Finished second to Kenny Perry after three playoff holes at the FBR Open. Perry made a 22-foot birdie putt on the third playoff hole to win. After Perry bogeyed the final hole of regulation to set up the playoff, the two bogeyed and parred the first two extra holes. Perry then rolled in the long putt on the 332-yard, par-4 17th to end the second straight playoff in the event.
2008 Season
Made the cut in 19 of 29 starts, but finished outside the top 100 (No. 110) on the money list for the first time in his career.

Bob Hope Chrysler Classic: First of three top-10 finishes was set up by the round of the week at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, a 9-under 63 in Saturday's fourth round at The Classic Club. Finished T8 in his attempt to become just the second player in Bob Hope Chrysler Classic history to defend.

Bob Hope Chrysler Classic: In his second season on the PGA TOUR and his first start of the season, earned first victory in 41st career start (36th as a professional) at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic at age 30 years and 25 days. Posted rounds of 66-70-68-66-71–343 and defeated John Rollins with a birdie-4 on the first playoff hole to earn a career-best $900,000. Fourth player to earn first TOUR win at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, and the first since Donnie Hammond (1986). The win came in his first appearance at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. He joined Arnold Palmer (1960) as the only player to win the event in his first try.
2006 Season
Rookie posted five top-10s en route to top-100 finish on money list, one of 11 Korn Ferry Tour 2005 graduates to retain a TOUR card for 2007. Finished 10th in Driving Distance (304.4 yards). Paid his dues, having played on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2000-01 and 2004-05.

Frys.com Open: The former UNLV player finished T5 at the Frys.com Open in Las Vegas, his best finish in two career starts at the tournament. Trailed third-round leader Troy Matteson by one prior to finishing three back of Matteson.
